SOLO EXHIBIT ANNOUNCEMENT AUGUST 16 – 18 2019 | ARTIST RECEPTION AUGUST 16TH

“Shining in the Sky” by Leann Schmidt Opens Friday August 16 | Artist Reception August 16

Leann Schmidt will have her works exhibited in a solo show at the Ketchup City Creative in Sharpsburg, just outside of Pittsburgh.

The exhibit, titled “Shining in the Sky” will feature a selection of Schmidt’s works of acrylics on canvas, paint swirling, water marbling and Ebru will be open one weekend only, from Friday August 16- through Sunday August 18, 2019. An Artist’s Reception will be held on August 16. Proceeds will be used to fund a new art center, Chartiers Creek Creative in Scott Township where Schmidt has lived for the past 8 years.

Leann Schmidt’s works explore the surreal experience of a total eclipse, with a special emphasis on activity in the skies, including the sun and moon, the colors, the flow of

air just above the horizon.  Schmidt said, “Experiencing a total eclipse is a life alerting experience, one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. I am thrilled to now have this opportunity to share my work with people in my community who have been so incredibly supportive of my work and artist journey.” As a teaser, Schmidt added, “Just like the eclipse, you think you know what’s coming, I mean, it’s obvious you’re going to see an eclipse, but somehow nature throws in some surprises. And so there will be at

the exhibit, which we will unveil during the reception. You don’t want to miss this!”

Leann Schmidt’s background in art has evolved from ink and pencil sketches from the very early days to watercolor and gouache painting.

She has only recently begun working with acrylics and canvas, and has “fallen in love with marbling fabrics”.

She also holds a BA in English from Southern Illinois University and is currently the Vice President of Net Tuner Corporation where she works as a project manager and business analyst.

Leann Schmidt has been offering art classes in and around Pittsburgh for the past year. As an extension of these classes, she plans to open a new art center in Scott Township in September, 2019 called Chartiers Creek Creative – a fun new place where local community members can come to share in art activities regardless of skill level. A grand opening event is slated for September 21, 2019 at Scott Township Park. More details will be announced in the coming weeks. If you would like to learn more about this innovative initiative, please contact us. Proceeds from this show will be used to fund the new art center.

The Artist’s Reception will be on Friday, August 16, from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm at the Ketchup City Creative (612 Main Street, Sharpsburg, PA 15215).

The exhibit is open for one weekend only – from

Friday, August 16 through Sunday, August 18, 2019.

Gallery hours are Friday, 7pm – 10pm, and Saturday & Sunday 12pm – 4pm.

Enjoy hors d’oeuvres, wine and an opportunity to greet and meet with the artist.
